Campaign for Plastic Bag Free Melksham
At our meeting on 5 December 2007 we were given a presentation on the impacts of plastic bags on our planet. The rather disturbing facts about plastic bags are highlighted in the plastic bags information document. Since the meeting we have been talking to local traders about the issues surrounding plastic bags and we have been campaigning to have Melksham become a plastic bag free town. We held a successful Love Your Planet day on Valentines Day and this concentrated on saying NO to new plastic bags when shopping on the day. We are continuing the campaign towards the ultimate aim. Here are eight reasons to refuse disposable plastic bags. One of the biggest problems we face is with the Supermarket throwaway plastic bags. The only town to have plastic bag free status is Modbury.
