Climate Change
So what is Climate Change and Global Warming all about....? Well, there are some facts, some well-reasoned assumptions and several quite scary predictions. First the facts: The World Meteorological Organisation has reliable temperature records going back for many years and these show a rise in the global mean temperature particularly over the last 25 years. In fact up to 2005 the ten hottest years have occured in since 1991... and 2005 was the hottest. The sea temperatures have shown a corresponding rise. Scientists have developed reliable methods of assessing the amount of carbon in the atmosphere at a given time by taking core drills of ice. Then since 1958 regular and accurate measurements of the amount of carbon in the atmosphere have been taken. The measurements taken from the ice samples have shown many fluctuations over the last 1,000 years but the accurate measurements since 1958 have shown a steady increase in the amount of carbon in the atmosphere.
